Family Trees, Genealogy Take Root at TreeX.com, Newly Launched Web Site

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) September 25, 2007

Keeping track of family history and genealogy has never been easier.

Announcing the launch of TreeX.com, a new Web site where relatives, friends or professional genealogists can work together or alone to help grow their family trees. Through this innovative Web-based building interface they easily construct family trees, keep track of family ancestry and post photographs and historical text.

The owner of the family tree can invite as many people as he wants to assist him in this effort. Trees are grown by inputting data directly to the site or by accessing computer files saved in the required GEDCOM format. Other information, photos and videos can also be inserted into the tree generically or for each member, improving quality and scope of the tree. Furthermore, a family tree can be kept confidential, set to public view or set to allow specified persons or relatives to access it — and forums and user message boards have also been made available to make the exchange of information easier.

This means that the TreeX.com site can be used all over the world and, toward this end, translations are being made in several languages to create the most pleasing environment for visually appreciating family trees online as well as for data research in the field of Genealogy.

The site offers a choice between utilizing a free version of the service and a paid premium mode that provides additional options. Even choosing the free mode, the family tree can carry on being built without any limit of the number of members involved.

About TreeX.com and its founder:

TreeX.com launched on Sept. 17. Henrique Morize had the idea of creating a Web site to keep track of family ancestry three years ago when he decided to document his own family online. As the founder of TreeX.com he now hopes to bring genealogy and family heritage back to the lives of people around the world. His new site, TreeX.com allows those who sign up to create a family tree online and update it indefinitely by adding photos, date and videos or altering text and images. It also allows them to conduct searches of other family trees and utilize message boards to keep in touch with relatives and friends.

Morize developed the Web site, he said, with the help of Guilherme de Souza, a business partner he has been associated with since 1990 when they assembled and sold PCs together. Subsequently, in 1995, they turned their attention to the Internet, building Openlink, a company that turned to be the biggest access provider in Rio de Janeiro, where they were born and still live. In 1999 they sold Openlink to PSINET, an American company, and started up iKids, an online site that sells children’s products. A few years later they sold iKids. Utilizing this accumulated Internet business background, they have since gone on to create MyFlog (http://www.MyFlog.com.br), a site that continues to operate to this day, and TreeX.com.

Casey Trees Launches Large Parcel Tree Planting Pilot Program

Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

On April 25 and 26, Casey Trees planted 85 trees along a barren stretch of Ft. Lincoln Drive NE in Ward 5 as part of its Large Parcel Tree Planting Pilot Program. An additional 15 trees will be added in mid-May.

The Large Parcel Tree Planting Program will add a minimum of 500 trees over two years on large parcels in need of tree cover across Washington, D.C. Added trees will count towards the Districts tree canopy goal of 40 percent by 2035, which requires an average of 8,600 trees be planted each year to be met.

Additionally, the Large Parcel Tree Planting Program will allow Casey Trees and the District Department of the Environment (DDOE), a key strategic partner in this effort, to experiment with nontraditional planting stock such as root bag, hand-ball and bare root trees and seedlings. Maintenance regimes will also be experimented with.

Tree maintenance, including watering and mulching duties, will be performed by Casey Trees Summer Crew, which is made up of D.C.-area high school students and under supervision of Casey Trees staff.

The innovative program is made possible with funding through the Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund via the Small Watershed Grants Program which is administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. FedEx has provided $ 20,000 in support of the program as part of its FedEx EarthSmart Outreach initiative which helps to address the most pressing environmental challenges. Additional underwriting is provided by Altria and Casey Trees.

At FedEx, we are committed to connecting the world in responsible and resourceful ways both in how we do business and how we serve our communities, said Rose Jackson Flenorl, Manager of Global Citizenship at FedEx. Our continued collaboration with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation in this restoration effort is yet another great example of this commitment.

Future planting sites are currently being sought. Ideal locations have large areas of grass and are singular or contiguous properties and can accommodate a minimum of 100 trees such as cemeteries and institutional landscapes (e.g. hospitals, universities, etc.). Preference will be given to locations within Oxon Run and Rock Creek Watersheds. Sites do not need water access.

We are thankful to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, FedEx and Altria for providing us the opportunity to pilot test a new planting program that will help us add trees to large swaths of land currently void of vegetation, said Jim Woodworth, Director of Tree Planting.

Site recommendations can be emailed to Woodworth at jwoodworth(at)caseytrees(dot)org.

Stater Bros., Coca-Cola and California State Parks Team Up to Reforest Wildfire Areas: Goal to Plant One Million Trees

San Bernardino, CA (PRWEB) April 7, 2009

Stater Bros. Supermarkets, Coca-Cola, and California State Parks today announced ‘Reforest California,’ a campaign to raise much-needed funds for reforestation and fire prevention in California State Parks hit hard by wildfires over the past six years. Cuyamaca Rancho State Park near San Diego and Chino Hills State Park in San Bernardino County, two areas heavily impacted by the wildfires, will be the primary recipients of the campaign’s goal to add one million native trees.

With the slogan “Join the Million Tree Challenge,” the campaign challenges consumers and private businesses to participate and raise money towards the goal of creating 1,800 acres of newly planted trees – an area more than twice the size of Lake Arrowhead. It is estimated that this could result in seven million dollars in environmental savings each year due to energy conservation and reduced pollution. To supplement the campaign’s reforestation efforts, a fire prevention education program will be implemented in five State parks: Cuyamaca Rancho, Chino Hills, Silverwood Lake, Mount San Jacinto and Palomar Mountain State Parks.

To support their local communities, shoppers at Stater Bros. Supermarkets will have the opportunity to make a one-dollar tax-deductible donation to reforestation efforts at checkout or online at http://www.reforestcalifornia.com/ .

Stater Bros. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jack H. Brown, who is a former member of the Del Rosa Hot Shots, an elite firefighting crew, says, “Helping the communities we are privileged to serve is a priority for the over 19,000 members of the Stater Bros. ‘Family’ of Employees. Our ‘Valued’ Customers as well as many Stater Bros. employees were and continue to be affected by the recent wildfires in Southern California. Stater Bros. is proud to support the Million Tree Challenge to build a better tomorrow for all.”

With today’s economic downturn and state budget challenges, public entities in the Golden State increasingly will look to private resources for support.

“In light of the devastating losses California’s State parks have suffered in recent years from forest fires, this program is most welcome,” said Ruth Coleman, director of California State Parks. “Coca-Cola and Stater Bros. are handing us a crucial life-line at just the right time, and on behalf of the millions of visitors who love our parklands, we applaud this effort.”

“The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Southern California is pleased to have the opportunity to support this sustainable project, something that has such a long-lasting, positive impact on the local community,” said Terence Fitch, Vice President and General Manager of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Southern California. “As the local Coca-Cola bottler, we have a long tradition of being involved in the communities in which we do business and feel a strong responsibility to our people and business partners to help make our communities better places to live. Being able to fund a public-interest project like this, despite state budget shortfalls and the current economic downturn, means a lot to our local communities.”

The ‘Reforest California’ campaign in Stater Bros. Supermarkets will run from April 8 through May 19, 2009.

Italy’s Best Tasting Olive Oil Hand Picked From 1,000-year-old Olive Trees is Now Available in the United States

Santa Rosa, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2004

Gourmets and lovers of fine food throughout the United States all have a reason to celebrate. The world’s best tasting virgin olive oil, produced from 1,000-year-old olive trees in the famous Apuglia region of Italy, is now available in the United States under the brand name Brando’s Bella Italia (http://www.brandosoliveoil.com).

Brando’s Bella Italia was founded by Pierina Danisi, whose family owns one of the oldest and most pristine olive groves in all of Italy. It is in these private groves that the world’s best tasting olive oil is produced. The reason Brando’s Bella Italia Olive Oil tastes so incredible is the extreme care and old-world tradition that goes into its creation.

Brando’s Bella Italia Extra Virgin Olive Oil is prepared using the utmost care to protect both the 1,000-year-old olive trees and the superb olives they grow. Pierina Danisi states, “Our family groves are harvested by hand at great expense to ensure the olives are picked at perfect ripeness and to prevent bruising. Our exceptional care in harvesting our olives is in great contrast to other olive oil companies who use tractors and mechanical harvesting methods that shake the tree violently and bruise the fruit. Bruised fruit creates olive oil that is more acidic and tastes inferior to that of hand picked undamaged fruit. Hand picking is the only way to guarantee the very best tasting Brando’s Bella Italia Extra Virgin Olive Oil.”

“Another technique we use to improve the taste and quality of our olive oil is that once our olives have been harvested, our olives are never stored for more than 6-hours before being processed. Other companies store their olives for several days before processing, which leads to heat damage and fermentation, making the olive oil more acidic and substandard in taste. Our olives are always very fresh when they are processed and this is one of the secrets to the superior taste of our olive oil”, states Danisi.

Olive oil is considered to be perfect in flavor and aroma when it has less than 1% acidity. Brando’s Bella Italia Olive Oil has less than 0.5% acidity and is the highest quality olive oil available.

For gourmets and fine food lovers, Brando’s Bella Italia Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a palatable pleasure that must be experienced.
