In their latest blog post, Jenny Sangler announces some news that she said makes her worry.

It concerns a recent study conducted by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which found that around half of all raw chicken products purchased at grocery stores in the U.S are contaminated with dangerous E. coli bacteria.

She also mentioned that the PCRM are known to advocate a vegan diet. Their study concluded that of the 120 raw chicken products they purchased, 48% contained E. coli, often meaning that contamination by feces is present.

Jenny links her readers to a New York Times article in which the President of PCRM claimed that most people are completely unaware that the chicken products they purchase contain contaminated feces.

However, as Jenny then points out, many believe that the study is actually invalid, designed instead to scaremonger and promote the vegan lifestyle.

While the jury may be out on the validity of this study, a recent study in the UK found that a fifth of all raw chickens bought in UK supermarkets carry bacteria that cause food poisoning, such as salmonella, listeria and campylobacter Jenny says.

She goes on to admit that, if she still ate meat, shed be starting to get a little worried. She also claims that she does not in any way feel superior to meat eaters and that she does not want to come across as a smug vegetarian. However, she does worry when she hears of reports such as this one.

Its important to note that CheapOair isnt offering a Hunger Games tour package as part of the deal. This was just a catchy way of promoting a trip to Charlotte. It worked, too, getting CheapOair mentioned in numerous publications and blogs and helping further increase the services visibility he writes.

It must have worked, though. The App already has a 5 out of 5 rating from its users.

The app is, according to Benny, perfect for the frequent business traveller. It allows the user to save selections such as flight meal preferences as well as a preferred seat.

Benny concludes his blog post by giving his users a polite reality check.

I may be glued to my iPhone, but there are some things I prefer to do on a full-blown computer. Travel apps are great for when Im already on my trip, but when Im booking my flight Im still at home. Cochineal, although considered to be safe by the FDA, isnt suitable for vegans and anyone who doesnt want to consume a product made from crushed insects, vegan or otherwise, needs to be aware that it is a common addition to many pink and red-colored foods and drinks such as jelly, marinades, cheese and certain alcoholic drinks Jenny adds.

She continues to explain that Starbucks promptly issued a statement due to mounting pressure from the vegan community. Within the statement they claimed that they used the cochineal to continue their efforts to remove artificial ingredients from their products. However, even though they plan to use vegan ingredients where possible, they also stated that this can never be guaranteed.

Its unclear as to whether Starbucks have ever publicly claimed that these drinks were vegan-friendly, but it seems that the company is prepared to take the views of their vegan customers on board Jenny adds.

Jenny concludes her blog post by offering up some vegan alternatives to cochineal. These include purple sweet potatoes, beets or even, particularly in the case of Starbucks strawberries!
