SOASTA Awarded Patent for Visual User Interface of its CloudTest Platform

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) March 8, 2011
SOASTA, the leader in cloud-based performance testing, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued the company patent No. 7,844,036 entitled, “Visual Test Automation Tool for Message-Based Applications, Web Applications and SOA Systems.” The patent covers a visual or graphical user interface (GUI) design that expresses a complete programming language for Web and mobile application performance test creation. Analogous to creating a song or video using digital multi-media editing products, this visual interface enables testers and performance engineers to quickly build and maintain complex performance tests using SOASTA CloudTest’s task-specific editors.
“SOASTA’s unique, patented design delivers a familiar and easy-to-use ‘GarageBand-style’ visual test creation process that enables users to build complex performance tests in a fraction of the time it takes using older, script-based methodologies,” said Ken Gardner, founder and executive chairman at SOASTA. “SOASTA has broken new ground in performance test creation, automation, and scalability. These visual interface editors are a key innovation that can help organizations create and perform quick changes in critical performance tests in a world of rapidly changing Web and mobile applications.”
SOASTA CloudTest’s visual testing environment is based on a visual mixing board metaphor found in today’s popular digital media creation tools. It uses building blocks that allow a user to compose test scenarios by dragging and dropping recorded messages in the form of icons onto different test tracks. Test tracks can represent alternate user scenarios or geographic locations within a larger test composition. The process of editing or assembling test scenarios to generate complex, parallel message streams targeted at websites or mobile applications may be considered analogous to assembling a song, movie, or multi-media presentation in digital media presentation tools. A user may also access the underlying message contents to adjust consumer wait times, eliminate testing third-party components such as CDNs, or meet other specific testing requirements.
Comprehensive performance testing has traditionally required the user to have extensive programming knowledge. In traditional testing software, users must write complex procedural C, or C-like code, or build a long series of messages – typically using Extensible Mark-Up Language (XML) – to simulate real-world traffic. These XML messages are often assembled by hand or using a programming language such as Perl or JAVA. This testing process is prone to errors because even the smallest mistake can invalidate the entire test. Maintaining the scripts and updating them to reflect system changes is also a difficult process.
“The extended time and specific expertise necessary to conduct performance tests using traditional software has prevented many organizations from testing at all, putting their business-critical websites at significant risk. SOASTA CloudTest eliminates these obstacles, empowering organizations to easily and quickly develop tests and run them at scale, using our market-proven visual interface and robust platform that delivers the full power of cloud computing,” continued Gardner.
SOASTA CloudTest Platform
Last month, SOASTA launched the latest addition to its CloudTest product line, CloudTest Pro. CloudTest Pro is a new appliance that delivers the world’s largest platform for testing the performance of Web and mobile applications. With CloudTest Pro, testing teams have full control to build, execute and analyze performance tests, with the flexibility to launch tests on a single platform that integrates data center infrastructure and private clouds with external resources including public clouds. CloudTest Pro represents the first commercial software solution that seamlessly integrates heterogeneous clouds and other resources to create a truly global test platform.
SOASTA will be demonstrating the CloudTest platform and its patented visual interface on March 8 and 9 at the Cloud Connect show, booth #515. To see a demo online, please go to http://bit.ly/faFEsD.

NetSocket has branded the technology Session2Topology (S2T). S2T combined with other intellectual property pinpoints cloud IP session problems for rapid resolution and proactively monitors IP networks, hop-by-hop, through even the most complex topologies. S2T significantly reduces personnel and hardware resources required to manage high volume applications thereby significantly reducing operating expenses inherent with IP cloud communications.
Moving to a proactive operations model and reducing expenses are core business objectives. VoIP, video, and data applications are making users more productive than ever and the reduced costs of cloud networks are compelling. Achieving these core business goals requires this type of new technology to give insight into the user experience and preserve IP cloud transformation project ROI, said NetSocket CEO, John White.
Said Carey Parker, NetSockets VP of Marketing, the granting of this patent and our continued success in competitive IP transformation and cloud projects validates the uniqueness and real-world value of this technology. Were typically seeing a 75% operations savings over current methods when our Service Visibility Solution Suite (SVSS) is deployed.

EveryMD Announces Limited-Time Patent Licensing Program for Commercial Facebook Users
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2012
EveryMD (http://www.everymd.com) has announced the immediate limited-time availability of licenses to EveryMDs U.S. Patent No. 7,644,122 entitled Method, Apparatus and Business System for Online Communications with Online and Offline Recipients which covers the creation and use of Facebook member pages.
EveryMDs patent was issued on Jan. 5, 2010 based on a patent application first filed in November 1999. The patent covers technology originally developed for EveryMDs website at http://www.everymd.com, which has been in continuous operation since 2001.
Under U.S. patent laws, a process patent such as EveryMDs covers both the patented process itself and the commercial use of the products produced by that process. Usually a commercial user of a patented process takes responsibility for obtaining the rights to use the patented process so as to insulate its customers from patent infringement liability. EveryMD had offered Facebook the opportunity to obtain rights under EveryMDs patent to protect Facebook users, but Facebook has ignored the offer and chosen instead to hire teams of high-priced lawyers to attempt to steamroll EveryMD in the courts. Facebooks actions have left EveryMD no choice but to seek enforcement of its rights directly with Facebooks commercial customers.
To remedy the economic and legal risk to commercial Facebook users resulting from Facebooks actions, EveryMD is launching a special patent licensing program that will allow commercial Facebook users to obtain limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licenses to EveryMDs Facebook patent for a one-time royalty payment of $ 500 per business account. This special low price will be available for a limited time only.
Facebook business account users who wish to take advantage of this low cost commercial licensing opportunity, thereby avoiding potential future patent infringement litigation, can find more information at EveryMDs website at http://www.everymd.com under the Licensing tab.

IP Menu Innovates! – Exclusive Release of the Australian Innovation Patent Index
(PRWEB) January 10, 2002
IP Menu Innovates!
IP MENU, the leading Intellectual Property (IP) Resource Directory and News Service is now exclusively hosting the Australian Innovation Patent Index.
Every now and then it is nice to “be” the news, rather than just report it. IP MENU has made some news of its own with the launch of the Australian Innovation Patent Index. In mid 2001, Australia introduced a new form of patent protection call an Innovation Patent. Unfortunately, with the current redevelopments of the patent database at IP Australia, the data for Innovation Patents has not been included on IP Australia’s online PatAdmin database. So unless you subscribe to the CDROM AU-I product, searching Innovation Patent information is not possible.
How does IP MENU fit in?
Well, quite simply IP MENU has created the Australian Innovation Patent Index – a simple bibliographic database providing details of Australian Innovation Patents. The data is sourced from the AU-I CDROMs which are issued weekly. This will provide access to innovation patent information for those who do not subscribe the CDROM product. The services is completely free. We also provide free access to innovation patent specifications.
To find out more, please visit IP MENU at http://www.ipmenu.com or contact Rodney Cruise at rodney.cruise@ipmenu.com.
