Lord of the Movie Santas – Billy Bob Thornton and Richard Attenborough go head-to-head

(PRWeb UK) December 24, 2010

To mark Christmas 2010 LOVEFiLM, Europes largest subscription service streaming movies and TV episodes over the internet and sending DVDs by post, asked over 1000 of its members to vote for the Best Movie Santa, with Attenboroughs portrayal as kind-hearted Kris Kringle in 1994 Christmas favourite, Miracle on 34th Street earning him top spot on the nations nice list with nearly a third of the votes (26 per cent).

A surprising second on the poll with 14 per cent was Billy Bob Thorntons turn as a drunken thieving conman who dresses as Santa to rob department stores in Bad Santa. The perfect catharsis to generic Christmas film fare, this unlikely festive tale gave the bad boy actor an advantage over other classic Clauses on the list

Ho-ho-ho-ing into third place with ten per cent is Tim Allen as divorcee Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause; he is disgusted to learn his ex and her husband have told his son that Santa isnt real. His sons belief is firmly restored when Tim Allen unexpectedly gets a new job as the big man himself.

Sugar and spice and all things nice, David Huddlestone left the nations hearts aglow as Father Christmas in 1985s classic Santa Claus: The Movie. Supported by an all star cast including Dudley Moore and John Lithgow, the film answered every childs questions from how reindeers fly to how Santa ascends the chimney securing Huddlestone fourth place in the poll (nine per cent).

Miracle on 34th Street appears again in the top ten with nine per cent of the votes for Edmund Gwenns original 1947 performance as Kris Kringle. The movie won Academy Awards for Best Actor (Edmund Gwenn), Best Writing, Original Story and Best Writing, Screenplay undoubtedly one of the best festive flicks of all time.

Others making the top ten Best Santa Clauses include Father Christmases from The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Grinch, The Polar Express, and Elf.

20th Century Fox Finally Comes Around with 600+ New Web Movie Downloads on Google Play

Melbourne, Victoria (PRWEB) September 21, 2012

In January this year Rupert Murdoch of NewsCorp (owner of 20th Century Fox) boldly tweeted, Piracy leader is Google who streams movies free, sells advts around them. No wonder pouring millions into lobbying. Naturally, this sparked a public rebuttal from Google, who defended their position by disclosing the number of, and how much was spent on, offending sites they remove. Murdoch was unmoved and maintained his stance against the giant search engine. As the year progressed with no signs of animosity lessening, all believed an alliance between the two colossal media companies was impossible.

But today Google surprised their followers with the blog announcement: More Movies and TV Shows from Twentieth Century Fox Coming to Google Play and YouTube. Although welcome, the statement is a major turn of events, given Murdochs opinion and Foxs blocking of content on Google TV devices in late 2010.

The first Fox movie on Google Play was Prometheus, which became available three weeks ahead of the traditional release methods of Blu-Ray, DVD and on-demand. Showing this kind of favouritism towards Google Play, comments David Jenyns, owner of web video marketing company Melbourne Video Production, means Murdoch finally conceded that Fox needs Google to extend their movies reach online.

Google Play, a cloud-based program, launched earlier in 2012 and offers an easy and legal way to access movies, music and books online. Google Plays current catalogue holds more a million songs and 600,000 apps, and with the addition of 20th Century Fox, theyll be providing over 600 digital HD web movie downloads.

Knowing the history between the two companies, I was first surprised at Googles blog post, continues David, but Murdochs a smart business man, and regardless of any previous ill will he harboured, he obviously realized Google is someone you want on your side when tackling the world wide web.

David continues, Anyone wanting their web video movies easily accessible to viewers will need Google Play or, at the very least, YouTube. It appears 20th Century Fox also shares Davids sentiment, as their movies and titles wont just be added to Google Play, but to YouTube as well.

Its clear even Fox knows that YouTube can increase exposure through its ease of use and integration with social media; it can make a difference to the smallest of businesses, further comments David, Ive seen it first-hand with my own and my clients.

Most Fox titles will be available in the U.S. first, with more countries being added soon thereafter. To watch Prometheus or to find out more about watching 20th Century Fox web movie downloads on Google Play, visit: https://play.google.com/about/

San Francisco Chinese Medicine College Reminds Horror Movie Goers that Final Destination 5 Is Just a Movie

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 07, 2011

Horror movie aficionados like to be scaredand the Final Destination series delivers what audiences expect: the unexpected. Final Destinations shtick is to make audiences squirm by throwing a bunch of red herrings at them, then killing off the characters in a surprising and inventive way. Unfortunately, the latest film, Final Destination 5, plays on the fears people have about acupuncturewhich the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco believes may turn them off to the all-natural, chemical-free treatment they need for better health. The college wants to assure the public that the scene is pure fiction.

We want to remind anyone interested in traditional Chinese medicine that Final Destination 5 is a blood-and-guts Hollywood horror flick, and every scene is designed to shock the audience, said Alissa Cohan, ACTCMs Director of Communications. The acupuncture clinic scene is a gross misrepresentation of a patients experiencefrom the danger of the table collapsing to the voodoo-style layout of the room.

The controversial scene depicts an acupuncturist fitting one of the characters, Isaac, with acupuncture needles then telling him she will return in 30 minutes. When she closes the door, embers from an aroma candle break off and land on some papers that instantly catch fire. Isaac screams, but no one can hear him, and when he tries to get off the table, it collapses and he lands face-down onto the needles. For the balance of the scene, Isaacs body is covered in blood and acupuncture needles jutting out in weird directions.

Film Journal International, a trade publication and website covering the motion picture industry, says Final Destination 5 is pure formula in action and the death at a holistic spa is designed to delight anyone who secretly believes that acupuncture is the ancient Chinese term for torture by smiling sadist with evil needles.

Horror movies, and many other types of films, rely upon the audience buying into what is called a “willing suspension of disbelief.” According to Wikipedia, this formula justifies the use of fantastic or non-realistic elements in works of fiction. It was put forth in English by the poet and aesthetic philosopher Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who suggested that if a writer could infuse a “human interest and a semblance of truth” into a fantastic tale, the reader would suspend judgment concerning the implausibility of the narrative. Suspension of disbelief often applies to fictional works of the action, comedy, and horror genres.

If you want to be scared, go watch a scary moviebut if you want to feel refreshed and improve your health, traditional Chinese medicine is the way to go, said Cohan.

For more information about this topic, or for information about the school and its community clinics, call (415) 202-5713 or visit http://www.actcm.edu.

About the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine

The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) has been at the forefront of educating student in Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Bay Area since its inception in 1980. Their two degree programsthe Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM) and the Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM)provide a truly exceptional professional education.

ACTCMs community clinics serve as a diverse and demanding training ground for their students, while providing affordable health care services to the community. ACTCMs certificate programs in Tui Na and Shiatsu and its introductory classes for the public offer additional educational opportunities for current ACTCM students, healthcare professionals and the general public.

Bay Area acupuncture treatment, as taught by ACTCM, restores balance and health, and is used for everything from chronic pain to drug dependence. It is also effective for [allergy relief , weight loss , pain management and fertility treatment. During treatment sterile, disposable needles are inserted at acupuncture points along the meridians. Because of the thin and pliable needles used, most people feel little to no discomfort as the needles are inserted, and patients often feel energized or a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.

Bed Bugs Movie in the Works, BedBugBully.net Dishes Out Details

(PRWEB) April 12, 2012

Bed bugs have been headlining news for the past few years now. And with their infamy all throughout the country, even the world probably, it’s not much of a surprise for many that they are soon to have a movie. However, with a movie or not, bed bugs are still pests. And for all the unpleasant things that they can bring, any bed bug sufferer must eliminate them, said BedBugBully.net.

The said movie featuring the small blood-sucking insects will be based on a best-selling novel entitled Bedbugs as reported by CinemaBlend.com. Ti West was the hired script writer of the film.

Written by Ben H. Winter, the novel revolves around a small happy family who just moved in a Brooklyn apartment. Soon after their transfer, they were troubled by what they deemed bed bugs. However, with no sign of the troublesome pests seen, they are faced with a more mysterious problem.

Given that the story’s plot is in New York where bed bugs have been causing havoc, critics believe that many can relate to the movie.
