Two-person Junk Removal Company Donates $50,000 of Used Goods to Charity This Year

Gainesville, Florida (PRWEB) December 20, 2011

A Gainesville business owners mutually-beneficial partnership with Haven Hospice has resulted in charitable donations of $ 50,000 in 2011, an amount equivalent to half of the franchises annual revenue. In exchange for providing bulk disposal services to the Haven Hospice Attic Store, Cameron Lansdell and his 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise receives free warehouse space for storage.

Its rewarding to know that my business and a great community charity can have such a cooperative relationship. Lansdells crew often picks up gently used or unused items on the job, which they then donate directly to Haven Hospice and their thrift store. The more customers we get, the more items we have for donation.

Responsible disposal is a huge part of the business. To Lansdell, the greatest benefit of responsible disposal is when there is no disposal at all, when salvageable items are used to benefit community members in need.

His initiatives have not gone unnoticed. Lansdells franchise was nominated for the 2011 Ethics in Business Award. The award, designed by the Rotary Club of Gainesville in collaboration with the University of Florida Center for Leadership and Ethics in Business, honors organizations and individuals who demonstrate ethical business practices at the highest levels.

Lansdells other beneficiaries include the Childrens Home Society (who have received around $ 10,000 worth of used goods), Interfaith Hospitality, Rebuild Florida, the local Humane Society, Bread of the Mighty and Sister Hazel. Apart from donating, Lansdell and his team recycles metal, cardboard, paper, E-waste, books, and even packing peanuts.

Real Goods Solar Taps University of San Diego Alumnus Scott Schumacher to Lead and Grow Its San Diego Inland Empire Operations

SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) May 30, 2012

Americas most established solar installer and integrator, Real Goods Solar, Inc. has tapped University of San Diego (USD) School of Law graduate Scott Schumacher to manage its growing San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino operations.

The high-integrity company is looking to double the size of its San Diego Inland Empire team over the course of the next 12 months to bring cost-cutting, job-creating advanced energy solutions to the regions homeowners.

San Diego can take pride in being California’s number one solar city, but there remains so much untapped solar potential in the region, said Schumacher. With our perfect climate, great south-facing rooftops and high electricity rates, San Diegans and families in California’s Inland Empire stand to benefit from the power of residential solar energy more than almost anyone, he said. And with utility rates threatening to increase by 7 or 8 percent, solar is an effective hedge against skyrocketing energy bills.

The solar offerings today are much different than theyve been in years past. According to a recently published NREL (National Renewable Energy Labs) study(1), the introduction of a menu of enticing new financing products like zero-down lease options and pre-pay agreements means solar is finally within reach of most homeowners.

Were hiring qualified people to help consumers across the region understand the benefits of these new financing options, which can deliver utility bill savings from month one, Schumacher said. Plans are to expand current operations to employ up to 30 individuals over the course of the next 12 months.

Real Goods Solars teams installed the first grid-tied solar solution in San Diego County in 1998. Real Goods Solar also sold Americas first residential solar panel. The year was 1978, in the wake of the OPEC oil embargo.

Schumacher himself has been in the industry since 2008, working alongside his father and uncle in a bustling manufacturing business designed to improve the performance of polysilicon, a key ingredient in electricity-producing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. When the bulk of his familys company clients (and his client base) joined the industry migration to the Far East, Schumacher vowed to find ways to create solar jobs here in the U.S. This is when he became interested in the installation side of the business. Its really where the solar jobs are being created, he said.

Schumacher says it was Real Goods industry track record that sold him on the company. I think the thing that differentiates Real Goods Solar from others in San Diego is its history.

Rising Sophistication of Electronic Goods to Drive Global Electronic Coils, Transformers, and Inductors Market, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc

San Jose, California (PRWEB) April 23, 2012

Follow us on LinkedIn Electronic Coils, Transformers, and Inductors are a type of electronic components called passive components that form the crux of electronic devices and appliances. Innovations in end-use industries including computing, telecommunications and electronics are fuelling growth in the global electronic coils, transformers, and inductors market. Innovations are being witnessed with respect to aspects such as weight reduction, surface mounting and miniaturization. The industry is extremely fragmented, comprising a large number of manufacturers. These manufacturers, through extensive research and development activities, are continuously devising methods to reduce the size of these components, add characteristics such as reliability and flexibility to the components, and expand their application base in years to come. In the inductors market, Japanese companies are at the forefront, with companies from Taiwan and China emerging fast.

Asia-Pacific represents the largest and fastest growing regional market as stated by the new market research report on Electronic Coils, Transformers and Other Inductors. Majority of the demand in the region is expected from countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and South Korea, due to robust growth in office automation, automotive, communication, and consumer electronics sectors. Moreover, these countries offer numerous benefits in terms of material and labor cost considerations. Inductor manufacturers in Asia-Pacific are continuously improving the performance parameters and bringing in value additions to their products through the usage of diverse material types, including barristers, ceramics, and ferrites, on the basis of voltages, applications, and the characteristics of electronic products. The trend is shifting towards increased EMI, miniaturization, and temperature range operability, which is coercing manufacturers to initiate research and development activities as well as advanced manufacturing processes in order to address these requirements.

Low-temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) technology is expected to be a leading trend to drive the inductor manufacturing in the next few years, primarily due to an increased usage of automotive, computer, and communications electronics. Besides investments in high-quality LTCC machinery, particularly in Asia, research and development activities are being initiated to identify newer materials, which could have potential of applying LTCC for inductor production. Products using LTCC components include bass-pass filters, front-end transmitters and receivers, and Bluetooth devices. Demand for low-voltage transformers continues to rise following the growing sophistication of electronic equipment. With the introduction of LCD, flat panel, and plasma TVs, the demand for fly-back transformers has gradually decreased. PC displays and CRT-based television sets have conventionally been the major applications of fly-back transformers. Despite substantial slowdown in the global fly-back transformer market, China is expected to witness a moderate growth in this segment.

Major players profiled in the report include API Delevan, Inc., Caddell-Burns Manufacturing Co., Inc., Custom Magnetics, Inc., Datatronic Distribution, Inc., Houston Transformer Company, Ltd., Murata Manufacturing Company, Ltd., Pulse Electronics Corporation, Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd., TDK-EPC Corporation, and Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. among others.

The research report titled Electronic Coils, Transformers and Other Inductors: A Global Strategic Business Report announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides comprehensive market overview, trends & issues, recent industry activity and profiles of market players worldwide. Bona Fide Green Goods Launches New Green Shopping Website Along With Eco Icons for Conscious Consumers

Concord, NH (PRWEB) November 17, 2010

Bona Fide Green Goods has launched a new website introducing 27 eco icons for a green shopping experience like no other. The new online green living store, hailed as an earth-friendly department store, offers carefully selected products for a more sustainable lifestyle.

Based out of Concord, NH, Bona Fide started out as a dedicated green living store and, after four years, has solidified its mission by creating an education-based website.

In addition to their new online shopping website, Bona Fide offers an extensive “learning” category for the inquisitive customer, beginning with a “green quiz” and including books, movies, and links pertaining to the environment.

Bona Fide uses its detailed “four footprints” philosophy as a guide for determining an item’s “greenness”. In addition to a carbon footprint, Bona Fide adds water, chemical, and social footprints to the mix of environmental impacts. Customers come away with a clearer understanding of what makes a product green and how they can make a difference.

“There is a reason why we carry each and every product and we can tell you what makes it green,” said Jonathan Gregory, co-manager of Bona Fide. “We begin by asking ourselves if the product considers the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The next step is to consider our four footprints and whether the product is an improvement over its mainstream counterpart. Usually, ‘carbon footprint’ is all that is talked about, but we [also] consider water, the chemicals used, and the people behind the product.”

Bona Fide recently added Duralex to their product line. Toughened glass made in France, Duralex is a non-toxic, safe alternative to plastic, with a recycled content of 85%. “Duralex has been in business for 70 years providing durable glassware, and with an 85% recycled content, it’s the perfect example of the type of green products we look for.” said Lisa Eshelman, co-manager and product specialist at Bona Fide.

Bona Fide developed an impressive set of unique icons to help customers quickly identify products according to specific green criteria. Customers can learn about these attributes and then shop accordingly.

“We are most proud of our 27 eco icons,” said owner and founder Deborah deMoulpied. “They offer an educational component to the routine green shopping experience that has never been done to this extent. The icon graphics are beautiful and their interactive capability let the consumer really know why their product is green.”

Committed to social responsibility, Bona Fide highlights two Afghanistan companies which have New Hampshire roots.

Rubia, based out of Weare, NH, is a non-profit organization for Afghan women to develop economic opportunities through their craft heritage. Rubia’s hand embroidered textiles often use reclaimed fabrics, adding beautiful traditional hand stitching to each piece. Rubia’s finely crafted product line includes bags, pillow cases, and lavender sachets.

Arghand, founded in May 2005 by Sarah Chayes, a former National Public Radio reporter, is fast becoming a leading natural luxury soap and skin care line. Chayes originally learned to make soap in New Hampshire. With the abundant local fruit crops and a handful of loyal and daring Kandaharis, Chayes began producing high quality natural soaps. Today, Arghand is a thriving cooperative producing fine soaps, oils, and creams.

Bona Fide Green Goods, formally Real Green Goods, is a retail green living store offering eco-friendly products both online and at their storefront located in Concord, NH. With hundreds of products to choose from, Bona Fide offers “a little bit of everything” for quality one-stop shopping.
