Depp, Damon Rated ‘Best,’ Ferrell, Maguire ‘Worst’ for Autographs

Santa Ana, California (PRWEB) December 14, 2007

Actors Johnny Depp and Matt Damon are the best, while Will Ferrell and Tobey Maguire are ranked the worst celebrity signers in Autograph magazine’s 15th annual survey of who’s cool and who’s cruel to autograph collectors. Results of the annual rankings of Hollywood signers are in the December issue of Autograph (http://www.AutographMagazine.com), on sale now.

“It’s the third consecutive year Depp has topped the list of the ten best signers. Whether at a premier, in a restaurant or on location, Depp may just be the best Hollywood autograph signer of all time,” said Steve Cyrkin, Editor and Publisher of Autograph magazine.

“In a miraculous turnaround, actor Russell Crowe moved from number ten on the 2006 worst list to number ten on the 2007 best list. He may still be a bit grumpy at times, but now he signs pretty much anytime someone asks,” Cyrkin stated.

“What’s so frustrating about Will Ferrell being the worst autograph signer this past year is that he used to be so nice to fans and collectors, and a great signer. What makes him so bad is that he’ll taunt people asking for his autograph,” said Cyrkin.

Here are Autograph magazine’s 10 Best and 10 Worst Hollywood Signers of 2007:

Lindsay Lohan, Johnny Depp, Britney Spears, Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson and Leonardo DiCaprio Light-Up – According to Dr. Michael Rabinoff, Celebrities are Turning Our Kids into Smokers

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) May 30, 2007

Lindsay Lohan, Johnny Depp, Britney Spears, Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson and Leonardo DiCaprio Light-Up. According to Dr. Michael Rabinoff, celebrities are Turning Our Kids into Smokers.

In his new book, Ending The Tobacco Holocaust (http://www.TobaccoBook.com), Dr. Rabinoff discusses how celebrity smoking leads to the addiction of many of our children and underage teens, and their eventual early death.

Dr. Rabinoff says, “They’re puffing away in tabloid photos, on TV, and in major movies. With so many celebrities smoking in public and on-screen, it’s no wonder our kids — who already want to look like the stars — are starting that lethal habit.”

Dr. Michael Rabinoff, a board certified psychiatrist on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA, expert on tobacco issues and author of Ending the Tobacco Holocaust: How Big Tobacco Affects Our Health, Pocketbook, and Political Freedom, and What We Can Do About It, also points out that “Perhaps the most powerful form of subliminal advertisement is the practice of product placement of branded products and use of cigarettes by stars in movies. Scientific research has documented a dose-response effect of smoking portrayed in movies: the more children and underage teens see of smoking in movies (or the more they see their favorite movie stars smoke in movies), the more they smoke.”

What should parents know about the insidious ways famous people influence our kids to smoke? Who are the biggest offenders? How can we protect our impressionable youth?

Find out about how celebrity smoking leads to the addiction and future death of our nation’s children and underage teens. According to scientific research, over 390,000 children and underage teens in the United States start smoking each year due to seeing their favorite celebrities smoking in movies, and over 100,000 of those children and underage teens will die in the future because of that. Celebrity smoking in movies, and elsewhere, also has the effect of influencing millions of other children and underage teens around the world to become addicted to tobacco products, and to eventually suffer and die prematurely.

The vast majority of the new smokers around the world are children and underage teens. Currently, in the United States 80 % of smokers start smoking before they are 18 (it used to be 90%): that’s why some physicians and political leaders talk about smoking as a pediatric disease.

Get the answers about celebrity smoking in the book Ending The Tobacco Holocaust: how Big Tobacco affects our health, pocketbook and political freedom, and what we can do about it, and on the book’s website http://www.TobaccoBook.com. According to the World Health Organization, 1 Billion people will die from smoking in this century.

Find out in the book about the Hollywood connection to today’s tobacco holocaust, including:

—Whether Tinseltown is “addicted” to smoking. Are stars biologically prone to addiction? Learn about the “reward deficiency syndrome” and how that might affect some movie stars, as told through the life history of Robert Downey Jr., Nick Nolte and Mel Gibson. Learn how, of all the addictions they had, they were able to stop all of them but one smoking.

—Brazen tobacco product placement in famous movies, from Men in Black 2 to The Longest Yard.

—Why Jennifer Aniston, Orlando Bloom, Kate Moss and Keira Knightley will likely age quicker than other stars, because of their smoking behavior.

—The positive reasons Julia Roberts, Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stopped smoking (HINT: They wanted to help and save other lives besides their own.)

—Why efforts to curtail smoking in movies are backed by the World Health Organization, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, and many other prominent medial organizations. These organizations endorse the following 4 policies as necessary to effectively decrease the effect of smoking in movies on our children and underage teens:

1. Rate new smoking movies “R”.

Any film that shows or implies tobacco should be rated “R.” The only exceptions should be when the presentation of tobacco clearly and unambiguously reflects the dangers and consequences of tobacco use or is necessary to represent the smoking of a real historical figure.

2. Certify no pay-offs.

The producers should post a certificate in the closing credits declaring that nobody on the production received anything of value (cash money, free cigarettes or other gifts, free publicity, interest-free loans or anything else) from anyone in exchange for using or displaying tobacco.

3. Require strong anti-smoking ads.

Studios and theaters should require a genuinely strong anti-smoking ad (not one produced by a tobacco company) to run before any film with any tobacco presence, in any distribution channel, regardless of its MPAA rating.

4. Stop identifying tobacco brands.

There should be no tobacco brand identification nor the presence of tobacco brand imagery (such as billboards) in the background of any movie scene.

—Public opinion polls have also shown that the majority of Americans support these measures.

—Why what the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has recently agreed to do, to consider giving some movies with smoking an R rating, is a good first step, but isn’t enough. Why public health officials are still upset with the MPAA. The American Medical Association states that “The Motion Picture Association of America’s (MPAA) decision to ‘consider smoking as a factor’ when rating movies does nothing to ensure that children and teens are not exposed to and influenced by on-screen smoking. By failing to implement a mandatory R-rating system for smoking in movies, the MPAA has ignored the gravity of the health threat that on-screen smoking poses to children and teens.” (http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/17569.html)

—Why parents need to understand that preventing their children from smoking may mean saving their children from a lifetime of poverty and sickness, and instead help them attain a lifetime of health and retire as millionaires if they invest the money that would have gone to buy cigarettes in a Roth IRA.

Ph.D., (Elite Books, November 2006, hardcover, $ 24.95, ISBN 1-60070-012-8, available at local bookstores, Amazon, Borders, Barnes and Noble) is a psychiatrist with many public presentations to his credit. He has a driving passion to get the message of the book to a wide audience, and the ability to engage experienced professionals to assist him towards that goal. Forget Johnny Depp and His Pirates….The Hottest Tickets in Town this Weekend are Documentaries

(PRWEB UK) 12 May 2011

LIDF Opening Night: 13th May, The Barbican

6.45pm: Opening reception with Film Directors from the Festival

8.00pm: Special Preview of the Award Winning Film Senna (sold out)

10.00pm Opening Party sponsored by Sagartiba

Interviews and film trailers available.

When the feature documentary An Inconvenient Truth became a Box Office hit many people thought it was a one off. In the era of reality TV and celebrity culture surely the documentary was a dying genre. Well, the sell-out success of The London International Documentary Festival now five year’s old says otherwise.

Oscar Winning Directors such as Martin Scorsese and Steven Soderberg, both with UK premieres at LIDF, are helping drive the new enthusiasm for documentary, according to Festival Director Patrick Hazard.

We’re seeing a new breed of feature documentary which combine all the cinematic quality of a Hollywood movie with well-written story telling. A big part of the festival this year is our Portrait programme which includes features from Martin Scorsese about Elia Kazan and Brigitte Berman’s Hugh Hefner Playboy, Activist and Rebel.

And digital technology is bringing these same cinematic values to more traditional activist documentaries from younger film-makers. We’ve had fantastic reviews of our Aboriginal rights movie Our Generation, and Agadez, which features the African guitarist Bombino. These films have an underlying message but the sound, vision and story is superb, and that’s why they are reaching crossover audiences, says Hazard.

But perhaps the biggest reason for the popularity of the documentary festival is the sheer variety of films on offer. While Hollywood Studios play it safe with formulaic plots, the LIDF festival features films from every corner of the globe and all manner of weird and wonderful topics .from morris men to Berlin Cabaret, tsunami to boxing, terrorism to war reporting, Burma to Nepal, capitalism to happiness., men in saunas to forbidden ar t…. there is something for everyone.

Special focuses of LIDF include “The Arab World” (14-15 May) and Pakistan (18th May) – through a programme of films designed to highlight the rich cultural heritage of these troubled regions as well as political influences and sensitivities,

The LIDF festival takes place from 13th-28th May at venues across London and features more than 130 films from 44 countries (http://www.lidf.co.uk)

Johnny Depp superb performance in Pirates of the Caribbean 4 movie.!!

At the heart of every adventure, there is a crazy idea that propels it. The idea propels us to the point where everything is an extremity, but we never say, ‘God, let it be over with.’ Because, Jack Sparrow never says that!

Pirates of the Caribbean films have been a rollercoaster ride, one where sudden appearances of thrilling moments have defied all the prevailing logics – the moments have been way grander, and too remorseless at playing with our ‘excited-like-a-kid’ minds. Ruling out every single possibility of boredom, Jack Sparrow embarks on a journey, yet again!

And this time, he is out to find the Fountain of Youth! Watch Pirates of the Caribbean 4 online , and you might just as well have an adventure.

Everything about this Caribbean voyage is a colossal grotto; which redeems moments of thrill, with almost every passing second.

Like a greyhound, it pounces upon your imagination, and clutches it. It’s only when your vision encounters the final sailing of the ship, somewhere far across the ocean, that you come out of the grip – yes, you get a smile, and an applause. But while the ship maroons off this time, Captain Jack Sparrow, may be left wondering about what happened. Don’t worry; it’s just rumination, a before-thought! It’s a thought that comes from the findings on Pirates of the Caribbean 4, which are too few, because the download option isn’t available yet.

But, it wouldn’t do to say nothing when the grandiose events transpiring in the Caribbean land (Hawaii, precisely) scream out. At least Angelica does! Penelope Cruz stars opposite Johnny Depp, in what is being hailed as one of the most anticipated movies of this year.

She plays Angelica, a girl Jack met and left, in the past. Perhaps, an old flame! He never bothered to stop and give her a ride. But now, when she is in front of him, he muses over the possibility of hitting it on with her. Exciting! But this sudden ‘bumping into’ isn’t devoid of a motive. Intimidating! Pirates of the Caribbean 4 download will soon be available. Exhilarating!

Angelica exerts her plan of finding the Fountain of Youth, and that Jack has to accompany her. She won’t budge unless Jack boards Blackbeard’s ship, and help her discover the Fountain of Youth. But the intention to help is contaminated, because he (along with Barbossa) is after the Fountain of Youth. Rob Marshall has set the stage for an unadulterated summer, full of excitement.

Once you board the ship, you’d never want to deboard it! Pirates of the Caribbean 4 movie is an adventure-shriek that claims to be loud, gigantic and sharp, and the best thing is: it’s everything it claims to be. Its download would take you into the wild world. Just Beware – The world of Pirates may rob you!

I love to watch movies online. I was eagerly waiting for Pirates of the Caribbean 4 movie . FInally I am going to watch Johnny Depp performanc in this superb flick..Hope I will enjoy this movie.

Johnny Depp Puffs On Electronic Cigarettes In ?The Tourist?

For many long term smokers, the idea of quitting smoking seems like an impossible feat. For years we have seen the introduction and popularity of many quitting smoking aids, such as Nicorette gum, nicotine inhalers, the use of prescription drugs, and even ads encouraging the use of extreme measures like going under hypnosis.

However, a new aid has come to the rescue of smokers who want to quit. The answer is simple: electronic cigarettes. You’ve undoubtedly heard of them, every website out there seems to have an ad that is screaming, “Buy Electronic Cig!”, and electronic cigarettes have even been popularized in movies like “The Tourist”, where Johnny Depp is seen puffing on an electronic cigarette for most of the movie, so if you woke up the day after seeing that movie and decided to buy electronic cig, it’s probably because Johnny Depp was subliminally telling you to buy electronic cig and to find the best E-liquid, even it means that you have to travel to beautiful foreign lands to find the best E-Liquid.

It’s no doubt that Mr. Depp had the best E-liquid on the planet to go into his electronic cigarettes, and of course as a movie star, no one can make that typical fight and say that he’s promoting smoking cigarettes. In fact, if any subliminal message was being put out about that movie, it would be to buy electronic cig, not tobacco cigarettes. Although that may seem bad to some, it’s actually better to buy electronic cig than it is to buy a real cigarette. Electronic cigarettes use whatever the smoker thinks is the best E-Liquid in order to receive their dose of nicotine, and sometimes a smoker may find that the best E-Liquid actually doesn’t contain any nicotine at all. That’s why electronic cigarettes have become so popular with those who are trying to quit smoking. Many people enjoy simply the act of smoking and can’t simply stop. Although smoking has widely been more accepted in European cultures, the United States is now experiencing a revolution in smoking, and electronic cigarettes are popular with both people who are trying to stop smoking and those who want to continue to smoke anywhere and anytime they please. Like Johnny Depp’s character in the movie, electronic cigarettes are the best way to effectively cut back on real tobacco, because he didn’t seem to be going through terrible withdrawal at all.

If you’re ready to join the E-cigarettes revolution, visit E-Cigarette510.com, where you’ll find some of the best prices on the web to buy electronic cig and where you can find the best E-Liquid. You’ll enjoy great prices, outstanding quality, and find satisfaction in their commitment to quality. Visit E-Cigarette510.com today to check out their great electronic cigarette inventory.

Johnny Depp, The Tourist, buys Palace in Venice, Italy

Actor Johnny Depp, whose recent films include The Tourist, has bought the Palazzo Donà Sangiantoffetti Palace in Venice, Italy for a reported US$ 13.8 million.

The forty seven year old actor apparently fell in love with Venice last year whilst filming The Tourist with co-star Angelina Jolie.

According to local newspaper La Nuova Venezia, the Hollywood star outbid an Arab prince for the empty property.

The seventeenth century Palazzo Donà Sangiantoffetti was one of the only properties for sale overlooking the Grand Canal in the highly sought-after Santa Croce area of Venice, close to the Santa Maria Mater Domini Church.

Depp’s new pad needs extensive renovation but has lots of original features such as high ceilings, ornate columns and a roof platform.

The Palazzo will be a holiday retreat for Johnny Depp and his French girlfriend, singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, and their two children Lily-Rose, eleven and Jack, eight.

During the promotional tour for his recent film, The Tourist, Depp spoke of his love for Venice and admitted to walking through the quiet alleyways late at night when the paparazzi had gone home.

“My experience of Venice really happened between 10pm and 2am when the streets closed and I was able to walk around and experience the poetry of Venice, the ghosts of Venice, all those wonderful dark alleys,” Depp commented.

“For an actor being able to film within the confines of that magical city certainly helps.  The city’s magic shone through completely,” he concluded.

The impressive Palazzo Donà Sangiantoffetti  is just one more property in Johnny Depp’s growing real estate portfolio; Depp also owns homes in West Hollywood, USA, Oahu, Hawaii, Somerset, England along with a forty-five acre island in the Bahamas.

When taking a break from filming, Depp usually resides at his US$ 2 million farmhouse in Plan-de-la-Tour, France.
