National Survey of U.S. Women Offers Both Expected and Shocking Results

Women in the U.S. today are stressed. In a recent national survey, 100% of women reported knowing at least one other woman suffering from holiday stress. Of these respondents, 58% say that they personally know at least 3 or more other women with higher stress levels during this time of year.

Exercise & Computer Use May Reduce Memory Loss: TrekDesk Treadmill Desk Fosters Both

New research published in the May 2012 Issue of the Mayo Clinic Proceedings has reported a decrease in the likelihood of memory loss in older adults who regularly exercise and use the computer. The combination of both activities was found to preserve memory function more than exercise or computer use by themselves. The studys author Dr. Yonas Geda, a physician scientist with Arizonas Mayo Clinic commented to Fox News on the results of his study, We know that from our previous studies, physical exercise is independently associated with better memory and computer use is independently associated with better memory, We found that this combination had a synergistic interaction. It means two plus three becomes eight instead of just five. Our argument is that perhaps the physical exercise increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain, and then the computer activity enhances the communication between nerve cells, Geda related. So the exercise brings the resources and raw material, and then the computer activity is implementing it.

The study involved 926 adults aged 70 to 93. Each participant responded to a questionnaire tracking their computer use and exercise levels over a year period. Study participants who did not engage in exercise or use a computer had a 20.1% rate of normal cognition with 37.6% showing signs of mild cognitive impairment. Participants who exercised and used the computer had a 36% rate of normal cognition and only 18.3% rate of mild cognitive impairment.

This adds to research conducted by the University of Illinois that showed 15% gains in cognitive abilities in elderly patients who walked 10,000 steps per day over a 6 month period, stated Steve Bordley, CEO of TrekDesk Treadmill Desks. According to litigator Philip A. Kramer, a recent 60 Minutes piece revealed what many of us have long suspected: mortgage lenders have been playing fast and loose with the paperwork in order to facilitate foreclosures. If the 60 Minutes piece is correct and there is every reason to believe it is the lenders behavior goes beyond sloppy paperwork and into the territory of what Kramer says is deliberate fraud.

Philip Kramer of the Kramer & Kaslow law firm wishes he were more surprised. Depending on whom you listen to, there are billions of dollars in error-ridden loans, and maybe trillions. Faced with the choice of admitting wrongdoing or working to correct the errors in a more forthright manner, it looks like the lenders are trying the cover-up route. Thats never a good solution.

Kramer believes that the pressure is mounting on the banks to reform their ways. Attorneys General from each state in the union have joined together and are suing the banks. One thing is becoming increasing clear: in addition to the weaknesses of the so-called liar loans, the lenders have been doing a little lying on their own as the resulting foreclosure crisis makes its way through the courts. Kramer believes that by fabricating paperwork, the lenders have only made things worse much worse.

The 60 Minutes piece depicts multiple fraudulent signatures from several large lending institutions as well as interviews with some of the robo-signers who were ordered to deliberately forge documents in order to aid the lenders in foreclosing on properties with incomplete, inadequate, or even non-existent paperwork.

Philip A. Kramer, who has brought several of the largest mass joinder suits ever filed against lenders, was surprised at the sheer brazenness of the alleged attempted fraud. When you walk into court and say you cant find paperwork and then suddenly, as if by magic it appears, and the signatures and dates are suspect, well The results are pretty predictable: judges dont like being lied to. If this was a once-only occurrence that would be one thing, but this is systemic, its widespread, and its not exactly a secret.

Kramer expects that there will be big changes afoot politically, and significant remedies coming out of the court system.
