This data was then applied to real world revenue scenarios to show the extreme difference in profits when ranking #1 vs. #2.

This presentation broke down the keys to success for webmasters who want to improve their search engine rankings. This included on-page factors that affect SEO like title tags, meta tags, H1 tags, and content writing.

Matt also addressed the off-site process of link building for SEO purposes, noting that the world of link building has changed and evolved in recent years as the search engine algorithms have changed.

He told audience members that there was once a time when content writers would aim for a specific keyword density with regards to the number of keywords in their website content. This type of optimization is no longer completely necessary because the search engines are no longer using keyword density as a primary ranking factor in the same way that they used to.

Showing the audience their own websites during the presentation, he offered some tips that webmasters can apply to their own websites. He said, Make sure to have a text H1 heading, have at least one paragraph of content describing the top categories and add links to them within that paragraph, and try to include fresh/changing content on your home page from your blog.

Matt also offered a few key pieces of advice that were intended specifically for ecommerce website owners. One of the underlying principles behind many of these tips involves avoiding duplicate content. Many ecommerce sites will display product descriptions that are supplied by vendors and this is often seen as duplicated content. When this is seen as duplicated content, it is unlikely to rank well in the search engines. He closed by giving the bad news that product descriptions should all be written by webmasters as unique content.

The presentation closed with the question: So how long can it take for a webmaster to see results from their SEO efforts? He went on to say that In the case of an established ecommerce website, making on-page adjustments can result in improvements within just a few days.

Link building is a process that takes a bit longer to produce results. Webmasters in the Nashville SEO or Miami SEO markets can usually expect to see their pages begin to rise through the search engine results within about 3-6 months after beginning a link building campaign.

Yet while the extremely short search time might sound miraculous, Mr. Isanov says in many situations the result of sourcing in that information in so short a matter of time often leads to inaccuracies in the data delivered. Thats where local maps optimization comes in.

Often the issue is that in many situations you wont get truly local results; instead, youll get a first search result thats only a few blocks away, and then the second one could be a distance of several miles, and then the third even closer than the first one was. More than half of consumers searching for things on their mobiles usually intend to buy it, according to new research from Google and Nielsen entitled Mobile Search Moments and published in March 2013.

The Mobile Search Moments report looked at why and when people use smartphones to search, the actions that result from these searches and how marketers can capitalise on every moment of process.

Participants in the survey were asked to log their mobile searches over a two week period in the fourth quarter of 2012. 6000 mobile searches were recorded and then follow ups were recorded.

Out of the searches, three out of four triggered actions such as additional research (36%), website visits (25%), store visit (17%), purchases (17%) and a phone call (7%). On average, each mobile search triggered at least two of the actions, with product and shopping searches more likely to have a higher number of outcomes.

Conversions happened quickly after a search, with 55% occurring within just one hour of the original search.
